Discussion held on results of START project

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On January 29, the 6th meeting of the ‘Project for Strengthening Teachers’ Ability and Reasonable Treatments for Children with Disabilities’ (START), implemented with the support of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), took place to discuss the project results, report for 2018 as well as the work to be done in the remaining 6 months of the project.

The sides concluded that the project achieved its goal, which was to establish a model of diagnosis, developmental support and education for children with disabilities, and that there is a need for the project to continue.

In the frameworks of the project, assessment tools for development were developed and various measures were taken to strengthen capacity of the Commission of Health, Education and Social Protection for Children with Disabilities.

The meeting was attended by Chief Representative of JICA Mongolia Office Sato Mutsumi, Project Leader Ishii Tetsuya, State Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Sports B.Bayarsaikhan, Head of the Population Development Department at the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection S.Tungalagtamir as well as other officials and representatives of the special schools.
