Survived offspring increase by 1.8 million heads compared with previous year

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. In the first quarter of 2019, from expected 29.8 million of female breeding livestock, 6.2 million (20.8 percent) of female breeding livestock bred offspring at national level, of which, 24.3 percent were ewes, 21.0 percent were female goats, 12.0 percent were female camels, 5.3 percent were cows and 1.5 percent were mares.


For young livestock, 97.6 percent or 6.0 million have survived, which is increased by 1.8 million heads (42.6 percent) compared to the same period of previous year.


In the first quarter of 2019, the natural losses of adult livestock reached 295.0 thousand heads at national level, which is decreased by 821.9 (73.6 percent) thousand heads compared to the same period of previous year. From the natural losses of adult livestock, 144.2 thousand were goat, 112.6 thousand were sheep, 24.9 thousand were cattle, 13.0 thousand were horses and 260 camels. From total number of natural losses of livestock, 48.9 percent were goats and 38.2 percent were sheep.


In the reference period, there were 4.4 thousand heads of livestock died due to infectious and non-infectious animal diseases, showing a decrease of 16.8 (79.1 percent) thousand compared to the same period of previous year.
