Biodiversity conservation project to be implemented in 13 soums

Gobi-Altai /MONTSAME/ A Consultative Meeting of Ensuring Sustainability and Resilience of Green Landscapes in Mongolia Project, which is being co-implemented by United Nations Development Programme and the Ministries of Environment and Tourism and Food, Agriculture and Light Industry with funding of Global Environment Fund, is being held in Altai city of Gobi-Altai aimag today, May 14.


The project will be carried out in 13 soums of Arkhangai, Bayankhongor, Gobi-Altai and Zavkhan aimags covering selected areas of Tarvagatai Range, Bukhun Shar Range, Ulaan shalyn khooloi and Zarman Gobi.


Between 2019 and 2025, the project team set a goal to enhance ecosystem services in multiple landscapes of the Sayan and Khangai mountains and southern Gobi by reducing rangeland and forest degradation and conserving biodiversity through sustainable livelihoods.


A total of 47 people including authorities of the aimag, heads and specialists of the relevant departments and agencies, governors of Tsogt, Chandmani and Erdene soums as well as representatives of special protected areas are attending the consultative meeting.
