Conference on zoonotic diseases takes place

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. In the frameworks of the partnership with the Bundeswehr Institute of Microbiology of Germany, the travelling conference on distribution, modern detection methods and aspects of biosecurity for highly pathogenic zoonotic agents took place in Ulaanbaatar on May 22-23. 


Experts and specialists of professional organizations from Germany, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Mongolia attended the conference, discussing the current state of zoonotic diseases in the countries, research results, projects and opportunities for further partnership.

The conference aims to build the capacity of organizations in certain countries in Central Asia, introduce new method and technology for diagnosis and treatment and determine the measures to be taken in the frameworks of jointly implemented projects in enhancing biosecurity.


National Center for Zoonotic Diseases has been working in partnership with the Bundeswehr Institute of Microbiology in doing research on marmot plague and diseases transmitted by ticks since 2009. Director of the National Center for Zoonotic Diseases and experts had attended the previous traveling conference, which was jointly organized by the Bundeswehr Institute of Microbiology and the Robert Koch Institute in Tajikistan and Kazakhstan in April.
