Mongolian sculptor wins first place at international sand sculpture contest
Art & CultureUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On July 13, Mongolian sculptor Ts.Munkh-Erdene took first place at the International Sand Sculpture Festival held in Kalmar, Sweden. The second and third places went to American and Swedish sculptors.
Ts.Munkh-Erdene creates ice towns in winter and wooden and sand
sculptures in summer. The artist’s joint creation with sculptor B.Delgersaikhan
– a 15m long dinosaur sculpture at the ‘Dinosaur Garden Park’ in Bayankhongor aimag
- is the biggest creation he has made. He also has sculpted dinosaurs in
Umnugobi aimag.
In 2018, a Mongolian team led by the sculptor participated in an international ice sculpture contest that has a history of 28 years, winning the first place among 250 teams with its work called ‘The Secret’.
