Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Governor of the Capital City and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar S.Amarsaikhan received the project team of ‘New Home’ led by project director Peter F. Meurs on July 31.

At the start of the meeting, Mr. Peter F. Meurs highlighted that gers of three households have been insulated alongside installing electric heaters, and solving the issue of heating with electricity by building a ger with a new design which showed great results, in the frameworks of the ‘New Home’ project being implemented in aims of reducing the air pollution in Ulaanbaatar.

He then reported the Governor about the current work on insulating 150 gers, and building new gers for 10 households, and the project team informing households on ways to improve insulation and install insulation for floors in the second phase of the project. As for the third phase of the project in 2020, the project team plans to insulate 10,000 gers.

Governor of the Capital City S.Amarsaikhan expressed that the city authority will support the project in every possible way, and noted that the end goal for similar mid- and long-term projects is to create a comfortable living environment for each and every citizen in Ulaanbaatar.

With aims of creating a solution for heating that is reasonably priced and consumes low power alongside not producing pollution, improving heat preservation and effectiveness, and building gers with a new design to reduce air pollution in the ger districts, the ‘New Home’ project is being jointly implemented by an engineering team of students of Brigham Young University, ‘Sain Uchral’ Foundation, Deseret International Charities, and ‘Eighty six thousand, four hundred’ NGO.
