Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Mongolia branch of the Southeast Asian region of the National Advisory Council for a Peaceful and Democratic Unification under the President of the Republic of Korea with a support from the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Ulaanbaatar hosted an international academic conference under the theme “Unity of the Korean Peninsula - 2019” on October 8 in Ulaanbaatar city.
Members of subsidiary council in Mongolia of the Institute for National Security Strategy (INSS) of the Republic of Korea and Korean Peninsula Unification Support Mongolia Forum and scholars of international relations attended the conference.
Executive vice-head of the Korean Peninsula Unification Support Mongolia Forum Dr. B.Lkhagvaa said “In the period of globalization with increasing interdependence in the international community, Mongolia can enjoy the benefit from the unification on the Korean Peninsula. Mongolia as one of the six countries of the Northeast Asian region has been deploying many initiatives geared toward maintaining peace and security in the region, especially since there were no official talks paving the way for official formalization of the regional trade-economic integration”. He further continued “When the Northeast Region did not have a formal multilateral security mechanism established, Mongolia has been taking consistent and active initiatives since 1970-1980s through international dialogues on the UN platform as well as through bilateral talks. Mongolia always strives toward dealing with regional crises in a peaceful manner”.
The conference heard presentation on ‘Ways to denuclearization of North Korea’ by senior scholar of the INSS Chue Yun Huan and ‘Strengthening the denuclearization of North Korea’ by Chairman of Blue Banner NGO J.Enkhsaikhan.
