Vegetable processing plant puts into operation

Darkhan-Uul /MONTSAME/ ‘Buyant-Undarga’ plant, which has a capacity to process 4 tons of vegetable per day, has been put into operation in Orkhon soum in Darkhan-Uul aimag.
The plant was founded with funding of the European Union within a project being jointly implemented by the Mongolian Government and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, which aims to increase jobs in rural areas and supply value added vegetables to the market.
The plant provides 10 citizens with permanent work places, allows the soum citizens to sell vegetables to the local plant and produces various vegetable juices and canned products.
According to the statistics of last year, Orkhon soum planted over 10 percent of the country’s total vegetable harvest and some 20 percent of carrot alone.
