Ice sculpture of Charles Bridge of Prague on display at Sukhbaatar Square

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. The Embassy of the Czech Republic officially opened ice sculptures of two of the most famous landmarks of Prague, Charles Bridge and Metropolitan Cathedral of Saints Vitus, Wenceslaus and Adalbert at the Sukhbaatar Square on December 16.




In his remarks at the opening, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Mongolia Jiri Brodsky said, “The year of 2020 marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our two countries. Thus, we are opening the anniversary of the Czech-Mongolian historic relations with the showcase of ice sculptures of Prague’s two famous landmarks.”


He also noted, “The 70th anniversary celebration will not be limited to events organized in diplomatic sphere. Preparations are underway for celebrating the event on a large scale, promoting the history of the relations of the two countries to Mongolian citizens.”



The ice sculptures of the Charles Bridge and the Metropolitan Cathedral of Saints Vitus, Wenceclaus and Adalbert were created by sculptor Ts.Batmunkh, and graphic designer P.Sergelen, with the sponsorship of two Czech companies that operate in Mongolia--Agrofert and Khaanzaa.


The opening of the sculptures of the famous 700-year-old Czech buildings was attended by official in charge of road and transport projects of the capital city B.Otgonsukh, staff of the Embassy of the Czech Republic, and representatives of Mongolian graduates of Czech universities.
