Speaker discusses expansion of bilateral cooperation with Singapore

/MONTSAME/ Speaker of the Parliament of Mongolia G.Zandanshatar met with Deputy
Speaker of Parliament of the Republic of Singapore Mr. Charles Chong during his
visit to Singapore.
At the
beginning of the meeting, Mr. G.Zandanshatar emphasized that this year marks the 50th
anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and Singapore and that it is important to further develop bilateral relations and explore
cooperation opportunities on the occasion of the anniversary.
“Mongolia is
one of the countries leading the world with their natural resources and
geographically connects Asia and Europe. We focus our policies on developing
mining in a right way using the advantageous location, diversifying the
economy, introducing technological advancements to production, and making value-added products.
“Mongolia
has abundant natural resources but is landlocked, whereas Singapore is a developed country
with access to the sea and little natural resources. We have possibilities to use these advantages in a mutually beneficial manner” he said, while
showing an interest in collaborating through the Temasek Foundation
International and the Singapore Cooperation Programme.
The Singaporean side expressed its openness to cooperate in many fields including mining, information technology, and capacity building of personnel and share its experiences with Mongolia.
After expressing his views on the intensification of cooperation between parliaments and parliament secretariats of the two countries, Speaker
G.Zandanshatar mentioned that the President of Mongolia
is planning to visit Singapore this year and invited the speaker, deputy
speaker and members of the Parliament of Singapore to visit Mongolia at their convenience.
