Norwegian Minister of Agriculture and Food pays courtesy call on President of Mongolia

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Kingdom of Norway Olaug Vervik Bollestad paid a courtesy call on  President of Mongolia Kh.Battulga and the sides exchanged views on the cooperation in agricultural sector.


As the Minister introduced, the Norwegian agricultural sector is making a reform based on the latest technology which has a significant impact on increasing efficiency of the sector. Launching a research center for introduction of scientific achievements in the field of food and agriculture has become an impetus for the use of technological breakthroughs in the field and sharing of knowledge.


Underlining that there has no foot and mouth disease recorded since 1953 and no classical swine fever since 1960 in Norway which reflects the development of the sector, the Minister Bollestad expressed its readiness to cooperate with Mongolia in the field of animal health and veterinary field.


The Norwegian Veterinary Institute conducted research and made a report on animal health and veterinary issues during their operation in Mongolia in 2019, and the Director of the Department, Carlos das Neves, presented the report to President of Mongolia Kh.Battulga and Minister Bollestad.


President of Mongolia Kh.Battulga expressed his intention to expand existing relations at all levels in order to gradually introduce achievements in technology and equipment in agriculture. The President of Mongolia also said that cooperation could be expanded by establishing a joint venture as the research on processing and export of wool, cashmere and meat, the main export products of the agricultural sector of Mongolia, has been completed.
