Agriculture Minister works in Austria

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Minister of Agriculture and Light Industry Ch.Ulaan paid a working visit to the Republic of Austria on February 14-15.

 

During his visit, the Minister met with Li Yong, Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), and Ralf Bredel, Chief of UNIDO Asia and the Pacific Division, to exchange views on expanding bilateral cooperation. He informed of the policies and actions the Government of Mongolia is taking to increase exports and diversify the country’s economy and touched upon the projects and programs that can be jointly implemented with UNIDO in this regard.

 

The sides also talked about collaborating in boosting Mongolia’s agricultural production and establishing agro-parks in rural areas and Minister Ch.Ulaan invited the UNIDO Director General to visit Mongolia.

 

Undertaking to make a visit to Mongolia in the near future, Mr. Li Yong stressed the importance of enhancing value-added agricultural production and that  UNIDO would support the Government of Mongolia.

 

Minister Ch.Ulaan also met with representatives of the World Bank in Vienna, Austria and exchanged views on cooperating to promote foreign direct investment in agriculture and foster and improve the competitiveness of national small and medium sized enterprises.

 

As part of his visit, the Agriculture Minister toured a model cheese factory and an agricultural training and research center.
