Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Cabinet yesterday discussed the location of a building of the second factory for refined coal briquettes.

Press representative of the Prime Minister U.Zolbayar informed that the cabinet changed the location of the factory to Nalaikh district on the outskirt of Ulaanbaatar city. The previously-proposed location was Amgalan area in the east region of Ulaanbaatar city.

“The location is changed to Nalaikh district, so that the air pollution of the area will be tackled thanks to the new factory, which will also will create 1500 jobs in the surrounding area. Moreover, the railway connecting Nalaikh district with Ulaanbaatar city will facilitate transportation of refined coal briquettes to the eastern area of Ulaanbaatar city” said Mr. Zolbayar.

In March 2019, the Government imposed ban on raw coal consumption in Ulaanbaatar city as an effort to reduce air pollution.

‘Tavan Tolgoi Fuel’ state-run company is operating the first refined coal briquette factory with an annual output capacity of 700 thousand tons and has been making supply to the capital city since last year.
