Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. On April 7, acting State Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Sports L.Tsedevsuren and Chief Representative at JICA Mongolia Office Tamura Eriko signed a document to implement the 2nd phase of the ‘Project for Strengthening Teachers’ Ability and Reasonable Treatments for Children with Disabilities (START)’ and minutes of the meeting.

During the signing ceremony, Ms.Tsedevsuren said that the first phase of START was successfully implemented in 2015-2019 in pilot areas, but the second phase will be featured with the nationwide realization. “We are confident that it will have a successful result on increasing access to education,” emphasized Ms. Tsedevsuren.

Ms.Tamura Eriko said, “We will cooperate in promoting inclusive education not only in primary and secondary schools but also in pre-schools, in particular, we intend to organize online training to strengthen ability of teachers of remote areas. JICA promotes a policy to provide all children with quality education, leaving no one behind.”

The 2nd phase of START will be implemented for 3.5 years, beginning in August 2020. During the project implementation, experienced specialists and experts will arrive from Japan and conduct training and seminars. Moreover, training will be provided in Japan.

Through the development of an individual-training curriculum, adapted to the specifics of the disability, it aims to increase the access of children with disabilities aged between 2 and 16 to the pre-schools, primary and second schools, as well as build conditions to involve them in developmental support and educational service.
