2nd phase of project to improve educational service for children with disability commencing
SocietyUlaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. On April 7, acting State Secretary of
the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Sports L.Tsedevsuren and Chief
Representative at JICA Mongolia Office Tamura Eriko signed a document to
implement the 2nd phase of the ‘Project for Strengthening Teachers’ Ability and
Reasonable Treatments for Children with Disabilities (START)’ and minutes of
the meeting.
During the signing ceremony, Ms.Tsedevsuren said that the
first phase of START was successfully implemented in 2015-2019 in pilot areas,
but the second phase will be featured with the nationwide realization. “We are
confident that it will have a successful result on increasing access to
education,” emphasized Ms. Tsedevsuren.
Ms.Tamura Eriko said, “We will cooperate in promoting
inclusive education not only in primary and secondary schools but also in
pre-schools, in particular, we intend to organize online training to strengthen ability of teachers of remote areas. JICA promotes a policy to provide all
children with quality education, leaving no one behind.”
The 2nd phase of START will be implemented for
3.5 years, beginning in August 2020. During the project implementation,
experienced specialists and experts will arrive from Japan and conduct training
and seminars. Moreover, training will be provided in Japan.
Through the development of an individual-training curriculum,
adapted to the specifics of the disability, it aims to increase the access of
children with disabilities aged between 2 and 16 to the pre-schools, primary
and second schools, as well as build conditions to involve them in
developmental support and educational service.
