Mongolia using Avigan flu drug to treat coronavirus

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. At today’s daily briefing of the Ministry of Health, Director of National Center of Communicable Diseases (NCCD) D.Nyamkhuu mentioned that Mongolia has started using a Japan-developed anti-influenza drug known as Avigan, which appeared to be effective in coronavirus patients.  


Minister of Health D.Sarangerel made an urgent order of shipment of the Avigan drug from Japan to treat COVID-19 patients in Mongolia, according to Mr. Nyamkhuu. 


As of today, there are 12 patients diagnosed with COVID-19 staying at the NCCD under treatment, and four people have been already recovered and discharged from hospital.
