Parliament Speaker attends international virtual discussion
PoliticsUlaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. Speaker of the Parliament G.Zandanshatar, together with Director of the Parliamentary Research Institute D.Badamdash, attended a virtual discussion ‘Virtual parliament,’
organized by ‘Global Partners Governance’ international organization on April 8.
A total of 25 participants from around the world joined the
virtual discussion, sharing views on how the parliaments are operating amid Covid-19.
During the discussion, Speaker G.Zandanshatar highlighted
that a regular session of the Mongolian Parliament has been virtually opened
for the first time. “During the time of Covid-19 pandemic, the Office of the
Parliament of Mongolia ensured preparations to conduct virtual session.
MPs are attending virtual meetings in five cabinets, keeping their
distance at 1.5-2 meters, according to the recommendations of the professional
organization. Caused by recent situations, the parliament is discussing a Bill
to amend the Law on the Procedure of the Plenary Session of the State Great
Khural of Mongolia.”
He also informed that the Mongolian parliament is working to
legalize regulations to organize the plenary sessions of the parliament and meetings
of standing committees and sub-committees virtually in case of an emergency
such as war-like situation and internationally-spread disease.
