Mongolian researcher selected as TWAS Young Affiliate

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Dr. Ts.Munkhtsetseg, a researcher at the Plant Ecology and Plant Resources Laboratory at the Botanical Garden of Mongolia, has been selected as a Young Affiliate of The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS).


TWAS selects the best scientists who have made valuable contributions to the development of science and achieving high international standards as lifelong members, and talented young researchers as TWAS Young Affiliates.


Each year, TWAS selects up to 25 researchers from developing nations under the age of 40 with at least 10 international publications for a period of five years.


As a postdoctoral researcher, Dr. Ts.Munkhtsetseg has worked for more than 10 years with a team of top researchers at world-renowned research centers and universities, including the Academia Sinica of Taiwan, the University of California, and the University of Tokyo.


Her research works have been published in leading international journals in the field of plants, such as New Phytologist, Plant Physiology, Plant Journal, and other research journals such as Scientific Reports and the Journal of Biological Chemistry.


Selected young members are invited to attend general conferences and meetings of the World Academy of Sciences, and support the participation of young researchers from the country in the activities, training and programs organized by the Academy. At the end of the five-year period of affiliate-ship, the status of “Young Affiliate” changes to "TWAS Young Alumnus".


Dr. T.Azzaya, a researcher at the Institute of Chemistry and Chemical Technology of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences, was also elected as a Young Affiliate in 2017.
