Bayan-Ulgii /MONTSAME/ On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the establishment of Bayan-Ulgii aimag, an equestrian statue of Hero of Mongolia Ekei Mazim was erected at the central square of Ulgii, capital of Bayan-Ulgii aimag. About M.Ekei, national hero L.Dandar once said, “Ekei proved himself a real hero during the Battle of Khalkhin Gol. I have not seen many warriors like him during the Battle. Even after losing his arm and getting a serious injury, he was admirably leading his squad until his last breath”
The People’s Great Khural of Mongolia made a resolution on August 19, 1979, to award the title ‘Hero of Mongolia’ to M.Ekei on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Victory in the Battle of Khalkhin Gol.
