Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Mongolian researchers have recently developed a diagnostic test for SARS-CoV2 antibodies.
Under the supervision of academician Ts.Oyunsuren and Dr. D.Gantulga, the test was developed by a joint team of researchers from the Laboratory of Molecular Biology at the Institute of Biology of Mongolian Academy of Sciences (MAS), the Virology Laboratory of National Center for Communicable Diseases, and the Department of Biology at National University of Mongolia.
With support of MAS and the Science and Technology Fund, it was developed using modern genetic engineering, molecular biology, and immunological techniques in a short amount of time, informed the researchers.
On August 17, Minister of Education and Science G.Tsedevsuren, State Secretary of Ministry of Health Ya.Amarjargal, and MAS President D.Regdel held a meeting with the team of researchers. After introducing the advantages of the diagnostic test and test results, they informed the officials that the test has been successful so far with over 10 people tested, and underlined the necessity of introducing it to medical practice.
During the meeting, the ministry officials requested researchers to continue to conduct tests on more people using the antibody diagnostic test, and came to the decision to jointly resolve the issue of financing in phases.
