Mongolia’s total coronavirus cases hit 300 with 2 new imported cases

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. At today’s COVID-19 daily press briefing hosted by the Ministry of Health, it has been reported that a total of 490 coronavirus tests have been carried out on August 25, yesterday, and two of them came out positive, both cases are people arrived from overseas. 


The 490 people tested or re-tested for the virus include passengers, who arrived on the latest charter flights from Tokyo and New Delhi, people entered Mongolia across border pedestrian border checkpoints and are staying under mandatory isolation, as well as people who wish to depart to foreign countries on future charter planes. Moreover, random tests are being done at local clinics to detect any local transmission. 


As of today, the number of total COVID-19 confirmed cases has reached 300, all of them are imported cases detected from passengers who arrived from overseas countries and were staying under mandatory isolation. 289 of the total confirmed cases have been already recovered and nine people are being treated at the National Center for Communicable Diseases in Ulaanbaatar. No local transmission of coronavirus has been detected in Mongolia. 


As the government has made 21-day isolation at government-designated isolation facilities and further 14-day home-based isolation mandatory to prevent from spread of the virus, there are a total of 3,864 people are staying under isolation at isolation facilities at this moment after arriving from abroad on government-arranged charter planes or through auto vehicle border crossing checkpoints from Russia and China.
