Choijin Lama Temple Museum restored with MNT 1.1 billion

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A week-event themed “Bringing the past to tomorrow” was launched on September 1 by the Choijin Lama Temple Museum. On the first day of the event, activities to present projects being implemented within “Uv Erdene” scholarship program have been held alongside skateboarding performance to public on outside field of the museum. While, a number of cultural and arts activities such as discussion, lecture, creative day for children and exchange of books will be held until September 6.


With an aim to safeguard and conserve historical and cultural monuments, which are symbol of national heritage, culture and values, “Uv Erdene” program started last year. And scholarship of MNT 1.7 billion was granted to five projects including the Choijin Lama Temple Museum, the Bogd Khan Palace Museum and Amarbayasagalant Monastery.


“As a result of restoration of the Choijin Lama Temple Museum in 2019-2020 with financing of MNT 1.1 billion within the framework of “Uv Erdene” scholarship program, the museum has become a new creative space for residents of Ulaanbaatar city to spend their leisure time effectively,” Executive Director of the Arts Council of Mongolia O.Odgerel said.   


In frames of the program, the Choijin Lama Temple Museum has been selected one of the 25 at-risk cultural heritage sites of the 2020 World Monuments Watch and global promotion activities have run. As a result, required financing was resolved to be provided from the U.S. Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP) to restore the building of Yadam Temple of the Choijin Lama Temple Museum in collaboration with the World Monuments Fund in 2021-2022.
