Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ During his working visit to Gashuunsukhait border checkpoint on September 4, Prime Minister U.Khurelsukh met with some of coal truck drivers. Coal transport in route Tavantolgoi-Gashuunsukhait is running normal.


The drivers put forth a request to appoint and employ Government agent at the border crossing point and to increase the number of coal freight trucks crossing border to China in the future.


In response to the question of the drivers whether the Government will stop coal transportation by auto road when the new railroad  commissions, the PM stressed that the Government would maintain a policy to raise coal export and therefore, auto road transportation will continue with the target of transporting 20 million tons by auto road and 30 million tons of coal by railway a year. In addition, the Government is giving attention on completely resolving social issues of coal truck drivers and expanding and improving the transport road. Since the coal transport will run in combined forms of railway and auto road, the PM entrusted the drivers to ensure their safety and continue their works in compliance with the relevant rules and regulations.


The Government is taking staged measures to upgrade working environment of coal truck drivers. In particular, during the Premier’s visit to Gashuunsukhait border crossing point in 2018, coal truck drivers requested to have a service center, which provides them with all needed services. And the Government made a relevant decision and a rest stop is being set up at Gashuunsukhait border crossing. Construction of the center is 86 percent complete.


The rest stop will have 2500 car parking space and serve to 14,000 drives in one shift. There will be a hospital service, 220-seat movie theater, eating places, hair and beauty salons and public showers. And the center will have 24 hour security, equipped with camera control system and full lighting.
