Historical tourism facility projects 50-60 percent complete

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The projects to build six historical tourism facilities, namely, ‘Great Mongol Empire’,’Chinggis Khaan’, ‘Shikhikhutug-Secret History’, ‘Boorchi-House of Friendship’, ‘Secret History of the Mongols’, and ‘Underground mine research and tourism center’ in Chinggis city and Binder, Dadal, Norovlin, Batnorov, and Delgerkhaan soums of Khentii aimag are 40-50 percent complete.


‘Great Mongol Empire’ tourist facility under construction in Binder soum, for example, will have 500 seats in its main hall. In the past two years, MNT 2 billion funding has been provided for the project. ‘Chinggis Khaan’ facility with a capacity of 250 people in Dadal soum located 600 km from Ulaanbaatar will have an amphitheater, entertainment facilities, and a museum.


At a joint consultation organized on September 18 by the Ministry of Environment and Tourism and the Ministry of Culture, participants discussed the importance of the facilities in terms of their contributions to historical tourism development, what tourism products and services the facilities should have to attract tourists, and future plans of action. The event was attended by representatives of research organizations.


In her remarks during the event, Minister of Environment and Tourism D.Sarangerel said, “We now have to strengthen the preparedness of our tourism industry as the absence of community transmission in Mongolia could become a factor that influences tourists to visit our country”


The Government of Mongolia launched the projects to increase the industry’s revenue to MNT 2.8 trillion and the projects are also expected to create 450 new jobs.
