New edition of ‘The Secret History of the Mongols’ to be published
SocietyUlaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. On September 23, Speaker of the
Parliament G.Zandanshatar received Sc.D B.Sumiyabaatar, author of a new edition
of ‘The Secret History of the Mongols’.
Newly edited ‘The Secret History of the Mongols’ is a sixty-year work of Sc.D Sumyabaatar and became a comprehensive work that contains the latest discoveries, rare facts, and detailed studies, and that explain complicated issues regarding its transcription and translation in the rich sources of the Secret History of the Mongols. It will be the most massive book in Mongolia, with A-4 format 2262 pages, a thickness of 20 centimeters, and a weight of 6.0kg.
B. Sumyabaatar re-transcripted basic form and root meaning
of some words in ‘The Secret History of the Mongols’ and studied the origin and
transcription of several versions of the original Khudam script (traditional Mongolian script), correcting
errors. Moreover, the book contains a specific encyclopedia
for ‘The Secret History of the Mongols’. Besides being large in content and form, scholars
consider that the work has advanced the studies of ‘The Secret History of the Mongols.’
Mentioning that this year marks the 780th anniversary of the
‘The Secret History of the Mongols,’ Speaker Zandanshatar said that the new edition needs to be published and made available to the public before November 16 this year or
the National Pride Day in honor of the birth anniversary of Great Chinggis
Khaan. In this regard, the Speaker expressed commitment to support publication and promotion of the book.
