Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ MP, Chair of Parliamentary Standing
Committee on Education, Culture, Science and Sports and Mongolia-Republic of
Korea parliamentary group J.Munkhbat on October 1 met with Ambassador
Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Mongolia Lee
Yeo-hong.
MP J.Munkhbat expressed his pleasure that this year marks
the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two
countries and that bilateral relations have been expanding in every social and
economic sector through strategic partnership and friendly ties of citizens
have been strengthening. He also informed that the Speaker of the State Great
Khural G.Zandanshatar has invited his South Korean counterpart Park Byeong-seug
to pay a visit to Mongolia, while noting that the country’s government has made
valuable contributions to the social and economic development of Mongolia.
The parliamentary group chair said the group will provide
all-round support in further deepening bilateral friendly relations,
strengthening cooperation in spheres of education, culture, science, tourism,
and sport, and opening up opportunities for experience sharing. He then
requested the Ambassador to put emphasis on organizing Mongolia-South Korea
economic forum, regularizing reciprocal visits, and providing funding for the
Solongo 1 and 2 apartment complexes construction project planned as part of
Ulaanbaatar Air Pollution Reduction Program.
Ambassador Lee Yeo-hong said, “In honor of the 30th
diplomatic anniversary, 2020 has been announced as the Year of Friendship Mongolia
and South Korea and numerous activities have been planned, but high level
visits that were planned as part of them have been postponed due to the global
pandemic. Since the government of Mongolia has lifted the lockdown, we plan to
organize an 30th anniversary celebratory exhibition and academic
conference in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.”
The Ambassador also voiced his hope that the projects to
strengthen the capability of the Mongolian tourism workforce and build a
tourism training center being implemented with aid from the South Korean
government will play an important role in advancing bilateral cooperation in
tourism.
