Mongolian skills-2020 competition starts

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection in cooperation with the German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ) and professional associations is organizing “Mongolian skills-2020” competition among vocational training and production centers. Winners of the tournament will represent the country in the 46th World Skills Competition to be held next year in Shanghai, China.
The competition is running in seven skills events, namely, welding, bricklaying, electronic, carpentry, plumbing, cooking and lathe and some 80 students from 32 vocational education and training institutions in 21 aimags and nine districts are challenging their professional skills in the first stage of the competition.
Professional associations and NGOs are jointly organizing competitions in each event. In particular, the organizing team of carpentry competition is consisted of delegates of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, Vocational Education Assessment Center, “Cooperative Vocational Education and Training” project by GIZ, Worldskills Mongolia or Vocational Education and Training Partnership NGO, and Association of Mongolian Foresters and Wood Production Entrepreneurs.
The Mongolian Skills competition is significant to improve quality of vocational education and training and to raise value of its graduates and specialists.
