Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. A summit of the Council of Heads of
State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) took place on November 10
as a video conference. The President of Mongolia Kh. Battulga attended the
video conference and delivered a speech.
In his speech, the President said, “Mongolia pays special
attention to making progress and advancement with the SCO member and observer
countries, particularly our neighbors Russia and China, on certain issues including natural gas pipelines, railways, and road transport."
"Regardless of the difficulties during this pandemic, we are about
to complete over 800 km railway construction within a short period of time. Moreover, a
study on constructing a 1,000 km irrigation pipeline to the Gobi desert, which
is being affected by desertification rapidly due to climate change, has
completed. The construction work will start soon.”
The President expressed his satisfaction with the progress of the project on building a pipeline to supply natural gas from Russia to
China through the Mongolian territory.
“Advancing projects on highways, central, eastern and western railways corridors, important components of the China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor, will link East Asia and Central Asia markets and deepen SCO framework cooperation,” emphasized the President.
