Central and district hospitals provided with ventilator breathing apparatus

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Phased measures are being taken to improve capacity of intensive treatment wards within the framework of ensuring preparedness of the health sector and taking responsive measures in the time of COVID-19 pandemic. An additional 175 respiratory apparatus of German Draeger company have been distributed  to central and district hospitals.


Intensive treatment units of all hospitals are being provided with ventilator breathing apparatus with views to ensure hospitals to operate in heightened state of readiness and prevent from possible risks. Within it, we are receiving 400 apparatus from the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, 125 apparatus from the World Health Organization and 50 apparatus from the Embassy of Mongolia in the United States. A total of 175 respiratory apparatus have been handed over to central and district hospitals this time. The number of respiratory apparatus in the Military Central Hospital and the National Center for Communicable Diseases has been added as well. Respiratory apparatus will be distributed to general hospitals of the aimags soon. Corresponding officials are also working to set up oxygen generation plants in the aimags, Minister T.Munkhsaikhan underlined.


General Director of the National Cancer Center N.Erdenekhuu said that the hospital had only five respiratory apparatus before nevertheless it has over 300 beds. "But today we have received 25 new apparatus. Thus we could provide our emergency and intensive treatment wards fully with respiratory apparatus for our patient with cancer when there is high potential of risk of COVID-19 infection.
