Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. Ambassador of Mongolia to Italy Ts.Jambaldorj made opening remarks at the meeting of Pastoralist Knowledge Hub Partners virtually held on December 8-10.

The Pastoralist Knowledge Hub (PKH) brings together pastoralists and international actors to integrate pastoralism and pastoralism-related matters into international policy dialogue.

In his opening remarks, Ambassador emphasized the important role of the PKH in the implementation of the food and agriculture measures, stated in the Sustainable Development Goals 2030 and briefly introduced the Mongolian Government’s initiative on the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists.

On the sidelines of the meeting, the Ambassador exchanged views with the PKH partners -- representatives of international research institutes and non-governmental organizations on collaboration to make Mongolia’s initiative actual work.

The initiative was discussed and supported by votes of 126 countries at the 27th session of the FAO’s Committee of Agriculture held in October, 2020. It was also endorsed at the 165th meeting of the FAO Council. In the next stage, the initiative will be discussed at the 42nd session of the FAO Conference to be held in 2021.
