COVID-19: 21 new cases confirmed, total reaches 1429

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Head of Surveillance Department of the National Center for Communicable Diseases (NCCD) A.Ambaselmaa presented results of COVID-19 tests conducted in the past 24 hours. 


According to her, 21 people tested positive for coronavirus after involving 22,993 people in PCR testing nationwide on January 9. A peacekeeper arrived from Afghanistan was detected with the coronavirus, bringing the number of imported cases at 409. Moreover, a nurse who works at the NCCD was diagnosed with the coronavirus and also 19 new cases were recorded in the newly registered clusters including 6th khoroo of Bayangol district, Munkkhada Company and Achtan hospital.


1,429 cases have been confirmed in Mongolia so far, of which 1,020 are local transmission cases. No new cases of COVID-19 have been recorded in Selenge, Darkhan-Uul, Gobisumber, Orkhon, Arkhangai and Dornogobi aimags in the last 24 hours.
