Capital city officials emphasize researchers’ participation in reducing air pollution

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. At the initiative of the Air Pollution Reduction Department of the Capital City, on March 10, a consultative meeting took place on the participation of researchers in reducing air pollution.

 

At the start of the meeting, official in charge of air pollution projects Z.Tumurtumuu said, “By banning raw coal and introducing refined fuel in household consumption, air pollution was reduced by 50 percent. With aims to confirm the results and further reduce it by 80 percent, preparations are currently underway for comprehensive measures,” and highlighted the importance of researchers’ participation in more effective usage of resources in reducing environmental pollution, and rehabilitation as well as in using renewable energy and establishing recycling plants.

 

It is planned to organize a series of consultative meetings on the issue. This time, they discussed matters including the spread of air pollutants and its current state in the city, causes for air pollution, and ways to reduce air pollution caused by auto vehicles. 


Over 10 scholars and researchers participated in the meeting, putting forth their research-based suggestions.
