Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ H.E. Mr. Zafer Ateş, Ambassador-Designate of the Republic of Turkey to Mongolia arrived in Ulaanbaatar and took office as of 12 April 2021.

In his message, Mr. Zafer Ateş said, "Distinguished Turkish citizens, Dear Mongolian Friends, I have taken up my duties as the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Mongolia as of 12 April 2021. I am honored and pleased to be serving in Mongolia with whom we cherish special historical bonds.

Friendly and brotherly Mongolia declared Turkey as “Third Neighbor” in line with its foreign policy doctrine adopted in 2011. Within the framework of this status, further enhancing our bilateral relations in every field will be a priority during my tenure.

Mongolia, which hosts the capital cities of the first three Turkic States founded in history, is home to abundant historical richness and a unique monumental legacy in terms of Turkish history. The inscriptions written in the ancient Turkic alphabet and containing the words “Turk” and “Turkish nation” for the first time are located in Mongolian geography. Preserving and promoting this legacy which forms our common historical and cultural ties with Mongolia will also be among our priorities. In line with this target, I hope to further enhance our existing cooperation with the distinguished Mongolian authorities.

Our bilateral trade volume which stands at 30-40 million Dollars in recent years is far from reflecting the actual potential. We will strive to activate this potential and to lift our commercial relations to a higher level.

Quality, speed and accessibility on a 7/24 basis in the provision of consular services to our citizens and Mongolian friends will continue to be our main principles. Your valuable views and suggestions in this regard will always be welcome.

I avail myself of this opportunity to extend my best wishes and regards to our citizens and Mongolian friends on behalf of myself and our Embassy staff."
