Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. The spring sowing started nationwide yesterday, May 6. In specific, the sowing has started in some soums of Selenge and Khuvsgul aimags, while it tends to activate in other farming zones including Tuv aimag by the end of this week, reports the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry.

This year, Mongolia plans to make sowing on 530.3 thousand hectares of areas and harvest 495.6 thousand tons of grains. The Crop Farming Support Fund now has reserve of 5,600 tons of wheat seeds and around 80 percent of over 10,000 thousand tons of elite seeds to receive from the Russian Federation have been supplied to entities under an agreement.

If the agriculture promotion loan worth MNT 500 billion is issued without delay within the Government’s ‘MNT 10 trillion plan for the economic recovery’, crop farmers and vegetable growers will have an opportunity to carry out the spring sowing in a wider scope.

Farmers plan to complete spring sowing within 20 days unless severe weather phenomena occur. Vaccination is underway for those who will participate in the spring sowing.
