Meeting held to discuss opportunities to increase cashmere export

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Food and Agriculture jointly organized an online meeting with representatives of some diplomatic missions abroad to discuss opportunities to increase wool and cashmere exports.


Representatives of the embassies of Mongolia in Canada, the United States, Japan and Sweden, and ‘Gobi’ and ‘Cashmere Holdings’ companies participated in the meeting and exchanged views on the possibilities to promote and export the products to the markets of the United States, Canada, Japan and Sweden.


Under the Economic Partnership Agreement between Mongolia and Japan, as well as under the GSP, EU GSP+, Mongolia enjoys tariff discount for its export of cashmere, yak fiber and camel wool to Japan, the United States, Canada and Sweden. The participants in the meeting agreed to develop specific directions and plans in order to promote this type of product in the target markets and increase exports.
