Science and innovation sector to be developed through public-private partnership

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. The annual ‘Mongolian Innovation Week-2021’ event launched on May 17. During the week-long event, innovative ideas, products, and services are promoted to the public, expanding public-private partnership and cooperation.
Organized for the 7th consecutive year since 2014, officials including Minister of Education and Science L.Enkh-Amgalan, Chair of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Innovation and Digital Policy N.Uchral, and advisor to the Prime Minister L.Tsedevsuren participated in the event.
In his opening remarks, Minister of Education and Science L.Enkh-Amgalan said, “Aside from bringing the innovation and technology sector investment and financing to the target level, the government will create appropriate legal framework to support the partnership between private entities, business owners, research institutions, and scholars.”
The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Innovation and Digital Policy, Ministry of Education and Science, Ministry of Food, Agriculture, and Light Industry, Ministry of Culture, Communication and Information Technology Authority (CITA), Science and Technology Fund, Science, Industrial Development and Innovation Agency (SIDIA), Mongolian Academy of Sciences, Young Research Supporting Foundation, universities, and research institutions are jointly organizing the Mongolian Innovation Week event, which is taking place from May 17 to 23.
During the event, a forum was organized under the theme, ‘Development of National Innovation’, with aims of strengthening the national innovation system, gathering investment for the development of 5 priority areas for innovation, putting knowledge into economic circulation, and utilizing public-private partnership in increasing competitive innovative products and services. Furthermore, panel discussions took place on digital transition, agricultural innovation, biotechnology, science, technology, and innovation in the food, light industry, and infrastructure sector, cultural innovation and creative industry, and model national ecosystem for supporting startups.
About 1,000 representatives of government organizations, public and private universities, research institutions, and businesses attended the forum.
