Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Prime Minister L.Oyun-Erdene, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the State Emergency Commission S.Amarsaikhan and Minister of Health S.Enkhbold held a virtual meeting on June 3 with the Heads of Emergency Commissions of the aimags.

Stressing that the vaccination rollout in the rural regions is not running as active as it was planned, the Prime Minister urged the heads of the local emergency commissions to accelerate the vaccination works. The heads of the local emergency commissions said that the slow-down in the vaccination rollout in the rural aimags was mainly due to the large number of herders moving from one place to another for better pasture for their livestock. It was also reported that the start of school holidays which led to a rise in the number of children traveling to rural areas is increasing the risk of the spread of the pandemic.

The Government of Mongolia has set a goal to fully vaccinate its entire adult population against COVID-19 between April and June, 2021. According to researchers and the Ministry of Health, the country’s number of daily cases are estimated to decrease from June 15.

As of June 1, 1,859,509 people or 89.9 percent of the total population have been vaccinated with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccines, and 1,323,266 people or 64 percent with the second dose.
