Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On June 24, Governor of the Capital City and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar D.Sumiyabazar held a meeting with representatives of the Mongolian Restaurant Association, the Metropolitan Professional Inspection Department, the Governor’s workforce, and the Capital City Police Department to discuss supporting the operations of some 3,500 restaurants and coffee shops by allowing them to open. The meeting was held in connection with the sector’s opposition to the decision made by the State Emergency Commission yesterday to extend the restrictions currently in place that allow the businesses to stay open only for take-out and delivery.

Expressing his support for the operations of the entities and organizations, Governor D.Sumiyabazar informed about his wish to allow their operations by establishing a ‘Responsibility Agreement’. The agreement will allow the businesses to run their operations as normally, adhering to social distancing and infection prevention guidelines. However, if the prevention guidelines are not followed, appropriate corresponding measures will be taken such as suspending their operations and revoking their licenses.

Representatives of the Mongolian Restaurant Association acknowledged that public dining places are ‘high-risk’ spaces, and underlined that entities whose operations have been restricted for a long period will sign the responsibility agreement and adhere to the requirements and recommendations issued by professional organizations.

The responsibility agreement will be established with the entities on June 26.
