Asia
is the largest continent where about 60 percent of the world’s population is
living. The continent accounts for 40 percent of the world’s milk production.
The diversity in the dairy sector of Asia is enormous. Smallholders with one
buffalo, or few yaks, sheep, goats, farmers with hundreds and thousands of
cows, cooperatives and even urban dairy farmers are there in the continent.
To
introduce the Asian dairy sector to the world, raising public awareness on milk
consumption and production, and support consumer food education Dairy Asia is
initially proposing “Asian Milk Week”. Process is ongoing.
