Two more Mongolian wrestlers advance to next stages at Tokyo Olympics

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Today, on August 5, freestyle wrestling matches are taking place for the men’s 74 kg and 125 kg weight classes and the women’s 53 kg and 62 kg weight classes at the Tokyo Olympics.
Alongside B.Khongorzul, there are two more Mongolian freestyle wrestlers competing in their respective weight classes today: IMs M.Lkhagvagerel and B.Bolortuya. In his first match in the men’s 125 kg weight class, IM M.Lkhagvagerel faced off against Dzianis Khramiankou of Belarus. With both sides scoring points one after the other, the match ended with the Mongolian athlete coming out on top with a score of 8:4.
In his next match, the 23-year-old athlete was matched up against Gennadij Cudinovic of Germany, and came out victorious with a score of 6:5. For the semifinals, he will be testing his strength and quick wits against Gable Steveson of the U.S., who defeated Olympic champion Taha Akgul of Turkey with a lead of 8 points.
As for IM B.Bolortuya in the women’s 53 kg weight class, her first match of the day was against Rckaela Maree Aquino of Guam. She was able to come out with a decisive victory by pinning down her opponent.
Next, she had a match against Luisa Valverde Melendres of Ecuador. She won by technical superiority with a score of 13:3, advancing to the semifinals. She will be facing off against Mayu Mukaida of Japan for the semifinals match that is scheduled tonight.
