Meeting held with Economic and Trade Division Head of U.S. Embassy

August 30, Member of the State Great Khural, Chairman of the Subcommittee on
Sustainable Development Ms. Kh.Bulgantuya held a meeting with Head of the
Economic and Trade Division of the U.S. Embassy in Mongolia John Cheng.
Last
week, Speaker of the State Great Khural G.Zandanshatar, MP Kh.Bulgantuya and
other officials received representatives led by Deputy Chief of Mission of the
U.S. Embassy in Mongolia Gregory May. Mr. John Cheng took part in the meeting
and shared opinions on the progress of implementation and legal environment of
Transparency Agreement in Matters Related to International Trade and Investment
between Mongolia and the U.S. Upon the decision made during the meeting, MP
Kh. Bulgantuya was set to lead a working group to support the implementation of
the agreement.
MP Kh.Bulgantuya stressed the necessity of the
legal reform within the framework of supporting implementation of the
Transparency Agreement. For specifically, she introduced the importance of
promoting foreign trade and improving the investment environment between the
two countries by developing the English version of the https://lawmaker.parliament.mn to be drafted a bill and https://lawforum.parliament.mn to be submitted a
proposal to bill websites. This will allow not only Mongolian
citizens but also foreign investors to express their views during the
discussion of the draft law.
Mr.
John Cheng expressed his support for the MP's proposal. He said that he would convey
the proposal on cooperation, technical assistance and other issues during the
meeting with members of the American Chamber of Commerce. The sides also
exchanged views on current and further implementation of Transparency
Agreement.
