Wheat and potato demands expected to be fully met from domestic sources

/MONTSAME/. According to the preliminary balance, 594 thousand tons of grain are
expected to be harvested, of which 559 thousand tons are wheat, 198 thousand tons
of potatoes, 117 thousand tons of vegetables, 64 thousand tons of rapeseed and
203 thousand tons of fodder plants.
This year, sowing was made on 420.2 thousand hectares of land, of which wheat was
sowed on 389.4 thousand hectares, potatoes on 19.8 thousand hectares, vegetables on 9.9 thousand hectares, rapeseed on 100.4 thousand hectares, fodder plants in 100 thousand hectares as well as the fruits and berries
in 655 thousand hectares respectively.
Wheat
demands are expected to be fully met or 100 percent from domestic sources,
whereas demands of vegetables are expected to be ensured by 60 percent.
The
State Harvest Commission noted that the it is possible to reach at this
performance as a result of hard works and efforts made by the farmers and
vegetable grocers as well as the measures taken by the cabinet in the
agricultural sector. During the meeting, members of the commission were given
an introduction on the results of tasks implemented in the agricultural sector,
and provided information on harvest preliminary balance, general weather conditions
during the harvesting period, crop ripeness, and features of harvesting technology.
