/MONTSAME/. On September 14, Prime Minister of Mongolia L.Oyun-Erdene held a
meeting with youth representatives involved in the ‘Participation’ project being
implemented for the young generation at the State House.
Unemployed
young people aged 18-34 are being involved in the project, which is a “vacuum”
training program with scholarship that started from September 2.
The
project aims to encourage an active, healthy lifestyle and patriotism in the
younger generation by providing advice in choosing their future careers, inspiring
them to work, and helping them to get a job and earn income. The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection
plans to have 5,000 young people be enrolled in the program this year.
The
‘Youth Employment Project’ is being implemented within the framework of ‘MNT 10
trillion Comprehensive Plan for Health Protection and Economic Recovery’
approved by the government.
“Creating employment opportunities is the
best form of welfare. The government has been pursuing a policy for transitioning from welfare to labour. The Minister of Labour
and Social Protection has been charged to gather data on the professions, education and job interests of the
young people involved in the ‘Participation’ project, and pay attention to providing them with job opportunities. Furthermore, young people
will be involved
in major projects and programs
to be implemented in the mining industry
and other sectors in order to help them earn income,” said Prime Minister L.Oyun-Erdene.
The
number of unemployed youths aged 15-24, who have not acquired appropriate level
of education or vocational training, stands at 68.3 thousand nationwide.
