Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On September 15, Deputy Prime Minister S.Amarsaikhan became acquainted with the works being carried out at the Altanbulag free trade zone in Selenge aimag, and made the decision to take certain measures to accelerate the operations of the border checkpoint.

Out of the 500 hectares of land available at the Altanbulag free trade zone, over 20 entities run regular operations on 10 hectares of land. Trade turnover in the zone increased from USD 5.5 million in 2019 to USD 6.5 million in 2020, highlighted the zone’s Governor J.Amarjargal.

The Deputy Prime Minister also instructed the authorities of the free trade zone to take the appropriate measures to stop collecting an additional fee of MNT 80 thousand for disinfection and sterilization from drivers going through the Altanbulag border checkpoint.

As power supply has been insufficient in the area for several years, Deputy Prime Minister S.Amarsaikhan expressed that he will present the issue at the Cabinet meeting in the near future. He then highlighted that special attention will be paid to the matter as it would allow the development of transport and logistics in the area by attracting more entities if resolved.
