First Assembly of All Judges of Mongolia takes place

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/.  The first  Assembly of All Judges of Mongolia has started in the State House today.

All levels of judges except for those who has essential reason are attending the assembly in-person, which should take place once in four year. 


In January of this year State Great Khural, Mongolian parliament adopted the revised Law on Courts with aims ensure fair judicial system and judicial independence in Mongolia through preventing improper influence from the other branches of government or from private or partisan interests. By the law, the Judicial Disciplinary Committee will be established to hold judges accountable for misconduct and make decisions on removal and dismissal of judges. Members of the Supreme Court, Judicial General Council and Judicial Disciplinary Committee will be selected on the basis of transparent principles and procedures and public hearings should be organized on the selection. 


Therefore, the first assembly will select members of the Judicial General Council and Judicial Disciplinary Committee by secret ballot. A total of 16 judges have been nominated for five positions of the Judicial General Council  while 10 judges for four positions of  Judicial Disciplinary Committee.


Besides hearing the report of the Judicial General Council the assembly will also discuss and approve General Procedure for allocation of judges and court members in charge of receiving, allocating cases, claims, complaints and requests, reviewing and resolving cases and disputes.
