Foreign Minister attends CICA’s Sixth Meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. Minister of Foreign Affairs B. Battsetseg today has participated in the Sixth Meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA).


Ministers and deputy ministers of foreign affairs from CICA’s 27 member states including Mongolia, Russia, India, Qatar, Bahrain, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus and Uzbekistan attended the meeting and exchanged views on how to cooperate in the new post-pandemic society, to recover and intensify social and economic activities, and to ensure regional security and stability.



In her remarks, Foreign Minister B.Battsetseg highlighted that the Sixth Meeting is taking place at an important time when the closer cooperation is needed to respond effectively to many post-pandemic challenges, and noted that CICA has become an effective platform for discussions on international and regional peace and security and the development of social and economic cooperation.



The heads of delegation paid a courtesy call on President of the Republic of Kazakhstan K.J. Tokayev and attended the official opening of the CICA Secretariat.


The proposal to establish CICA was first submitted by the former President of the Republic of Kazakhstan N.A. Nazarbayev on October 5, 1992, during the 47th session of the UN General Assembly. Next year, the 30th anniversary of the establishment of CICA will be marked.
