'UN Week' campaign to be launched with planting of 2,500 trees

Ulaanbaatar / MONTSAME /. On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of Mongolia's accession to the United Nations, the ‘UN Week’ campaign is to run between October 10 and 18, reports the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.


At a press conference, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs N.Ankhbayar said that the campaign will be launched by planting 2500 trees on Bayanzurkh Mountain. Permanent Representative of Mongolia to the United Nations and other specialized agencies as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will participate in the event. 


Extending greetings on the occasion of the 60th anniversary Resident Coordinator of the United Nations in Mongolia Tapan Mishra highlighted that Mongolia’s accession to the United Nations was an event of great importance that ensures the sovereign and independence of Mongolia in the world. "Six years ago, 190 countries, participated in the 70th session of the UN General Assembly approved ‘Sustainable Development Goals 2030’. One of the countries was Mongolia. We are supporting and working together to make progress in all aspects for achieving the Sustainable development goals of Mongolia amid the challenging circumstances posed by Covid-19 pandemic,” noted Tapan Mishra during the press conference.


Tapan Mishra expressed his satisfaction with launching ‘UN week’ campaign by planting trees to support 'One billion trees' nationwide campaign initiated by President of Mongolia.
