Discussion held on ensuring human rights in business

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. The Eastern
and Gobi regional discussion under the theme ‘Ensuring human rights in business’
was held in Sainshand, Dornogobi aimag on November 11 and 12.
More than
180 representatives of government agencies and private sectors in Bayankhongor,
Gobisumber, Dornogobi, Dornod, Dundgobi, Umnugobi, Sukhbaatar, and Khentii aimag
participated in the discussion, co-organized by the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs and UN Development Programme with the
support from European Union.
During
the discussions, participants touched upon the matters such as negative impacts on human rights related to the business activities including mining, difficulties
facing business sector due to the problems of social welfare and tax policy, and
lack of human resources.
Issues and suggestions raised
during the discussion will be reflected in the basic study on business and human
rights for using it to develop a national action plan for ensuring human rights in business.
