Capital city Governor's Council declares 2022 year of City Citizens

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. At its meeting on January 31, the
capital city Governor's Council supported the proposal to declare 2022 Year of City
Citizens.
The proposal was put forth within the framework of implementing the Action Plan of Governor of the Capital City and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar for 2020-2024, the five-year development guidelines for 2021-2025, Ulaanbaatar city development plan for 2022, other documents and strategic plan. This year, the capital city targets its works on educating citizens, forming culture, increasing their income, improving the living conditions, focusing on the health, as well as ensuring the security.
During the council’s meeting, Chief
Architect of the capital city N.Natsagdorj said that goals have been set under the topics: ‘Urban Civic Education’, ‘Urban Civic
Culture’, ‘Urban Civic
Income’, ‘Urban Civic
Environment’, ‘Urban
Citizen Health’,
and ‘Urban
Civil Security’. Works will be carried out for two months to implement one specific goal. Under the goal ‘Urban Civic Education’ activities targeted to providing legal
knowledge and information to the citizens, changing culture of public
servants, and transferring the public services to digital form will take place for the first two months. In addition, he
touched upon issue of increasing the number of schools and kindergartens
in the necessary places and enhancing its management.
Further, the condition and the
management of public bus stops planned to be improved, increasing the number of bus stations, in March and April under the ‘Urban
Civic Culture’ goal. There are 1,081 public bus stops in the capital city and 51
percent of the citizens use the public transport. Corresponding
officials are studying the possibility of increasing the number of bus stops
that meet the standard, aside from renovating the public bus stops and creating
its unified system.
Within the framework of the ‘Urban Civic Income’ goal, activities for providing the citizens with opportunities to run trade and
service on the streets, and creating favorable recreation environment for
citizens are expected in May and June. The
trade and service activities will be allowed at 12,211 square meters in 31
locations in 9 districts of the capital city. This will serve as support for employment and income increase of citizens.
