Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ At its regular meeting today, the Cabinet ordered the Ministry of Culture to support Mongolian artists in participating in the Cannes Film Festival and Venice Biennale.
Minister of Culture Ch.Nomin underscored
at a press conference following the Cabinet meeting that the decision opens up
an opportunity to provide concrete support to the cultural sector.
“Creative economy is included
in the country’s long term development policy, Vision-2050, as one of the six development
priorities, which is why there are numerous creative economy development programs
in the Industrial Policy of the New Revival Policy. There is also a policy to
link tourism development and the cultural sector. The Ministry of Culture will work
with the tourism sector to promote Mongolia to the world and attract tourists. In that effort, it is important to have our artists take part in major international
exhibitions and events such as the Venice Biennale,” said the Minister.
“Last year, Mongolia approved
the law on cinematography, which facilitates the production of major international
films in the country, and the Cannes is a great opportunity to make this known
to the world. We have so far agreed to collaborate with four Hollywood productions
and the first round of shooting will begin in June”
