Labor Minister meets ADB Country Director

of Labor and Social Protection A. Ariunzaya held a meeting with the Asian
Development Bank’s Country Director for Mongolia Pavit Ramachandran to discuss cooperation
in labor and social protection and ongoing major projects and programs.
At the meeting, ADB representatives
presented measures being taken to mitigate the negative impact of the economic crisis,
ensure budget stability, improve social protection programs and welfare
services, strengthen information technology systems, reduce gender-based
violence, and support vulnerable communities.
ADB has been providing
technical assistance to Mongolia since 1994 and loans since 2001, supporting
the country’s key economic sectors through investment projects, project
support, aid, and technical assistance. The bank is implementing two
loan-funded projects and one technical assistance project in the country’s
labor and social protection sector, which are aimed at ensuring participation
of people with disabilities, improving inclusiveness, strengthening the social
welfare system, and developing shock-responsive social protection system.
